Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) and Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) are strongly recommending the US leave the WHO due to its "corrupt and inept" nature.

The pair made the comments in a letter to US President Joe Biden, which cites the WHO's January 2020 insistence that COVID could not be spread from human to human and its praise of totalitarian China's pandemic handling.

"The WHO has demonstrated an abysmal lack of competence throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has destroyed the organization’s credibility and undermined the public’s confidence in it," the letter reads.

According to Fox News, the senators also "take issue with the Biden administration's plan to support amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR) from Jan 18, which they say would increase the WHO's power at the expense of the U.S. and its allies."

The WHO is a sub-organization of the United Nations.

During his term as president, Donald Trump withdrew the US from the organization and withdrew all US funding.

Under Biden, the US rejoined the WHO and funding was reinstated.
